3 Effective Strategies for Handling Everyday Stress

Life is full of stressful situations and in this blog we will discover 3 effective strategies for handling everyday stress.

We've all got stress in our lives, whether it's from our jobs, families, or just the day-to-day grind. Our emotional and physical well-being depends, however, on our ability to control stress.

Anxiety, depression, and even bodily illness are all possible outcomes of prolonged stress; believe me, I'm slowly healing from two decades of mishandling stress. That's why it's so important to learn effective techniques for dealing with the stresses of daily life. Here are three stress-busting strategies for dealing with the tension of daily life.

Start A Mindfulness Practice. This begins the 2 effective strategies for handling everyday stress.

Mindfulness is the act of paying attention to and appreciating the here-and-now. It was very difficult for me to sit still when I first started learning mindfulness and mindful meditation; now it's become second nature. Do I still lose my mind, yes of course, I am human!

However, more times than not it becomes second nature to slow my mouth down, listen and breathe when I'm approached with stressful situations. Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to one's internal experience without attaching any value to it.

Stress and worry can be alleviated through mindful practice.

Being mindful increases your capacity to handle negative emotions and react to stressful situations with composure and clarity.

Mindfulness can be practiced in a variety of ways, including through meditation, deep breathing, or just paying attention to the present instant.

Quick mindful meditation:

Resolve right now to release every thought from yesterday and be only mindful of the now…. this thought only...this breath...this moment. Take in three very deep breaths and slowly release each one.

At the same time, feel each and every concern, each and every problem, and each and every unresolved moment begin to dissolve. You can deal with them at a later time. For now, you are only to be in this very moment.

Now go to your inner quiet place. Go deep inside to a place where you feel that you are at peace and then just relax and breathe in deeply and enjoy the feeling of being at one and at peace within yourself.

Use this special time and place to be calm. Free your mind and body of all worry, all regret, all disappointment, all anger and grief. - Namaste

Do Something, Really ANYTHING

Exercising is a great method to relieve stress. Endorphins, the body's natural mood-lifters, are released during physical activity. Exercising can help you relax your limbs and clear your head.

To get fit, you don't need to join a club or run a marathon. Simply going for a brisk walk or doing some light stretching can have the same impact. Being almost immobile for so long, due to my health and weight issues, has been difficult. To begin, just stretching in the mornings has become routine. Find something you take pleasure in doing and make it a habit.

Talk to People

People need other people in their lives because we evolved as social organisms. If you want to feel more at ease and encouraged, spend some time with loved ones. You can gain perspective and feel less alone by talking to someone you trust about your fears and concerns.

Covid removed me from my very social career and I found myself isolating. If you feel like you have no one to speak to, it may be time to find a support group or seek professional assistance, even if it's only online it will be a huge benefit.

In conclusion, maintaining good mental and physical health requires regular practice in stress management. We can all live healthier, more fulfilling lives with less worry if we commit to cultivating habits of mindfulness, physical activity, and social connection. We can choose how we react to worry; it's important to keep that in mind. You can conquer your tension and live your best life by following these guidelines.

The very best thing we can do for ourselves is to eat, drink and rest – cheers to your health!

Stay grounded, stay growing, and keep a little side-eye for the nonsense...
