How To See Auras

Have you ever looked at someone and wondered if you could actually see their energy?

Whether auras are viewed as spiritual energy fields, heightened perception, or simply a fascinating mindfulness exercise, learning how to see auras can become an enjoyable way to strengthen observation and intuition.

Like most intuitive practices, it takes patience. Don't expect fireworks on the first try. Think of it more like learning to recognize constellations. At first, all you see are stars. Then one day, the patterns begin to appear.

Start With a Simple Exercise

Find a willing partner and have them stand in front of a light-colored wall in a softly lit room.

A plain background makes it easier to notice subtle visual changes.

Ask your partner to hold one finger about six inches in front of their chin. Instead of looking directly at their face, gently focus on the tip of their finger. Keep your eyes relaxed rather than intensely focused. Imagine you're looking just beyond the finger instead of directly at it.

After about 20 to 30 seconds, ask your partner to slowly lower their hand while you continue looking at the exact same spot. Resist the urge to immediately refocus on their face.

With relaxed vision, you may begin to notice a faint outline or thin band of light extending around your partner's body. Some people notice it quickly. Others need several practice sessions. Neither experience is unusual.

Notice the Layers

As you continue practicing, you may begin to notice a second, fainter layer that sometimes appears to carry color. Interpretations of aura colors vary widely, so rather than memorizing someone else's chart, pay attention to your own observations. Over time, you may notice certain colors consistently appearing alongside particular moods, personalities, or emotional states.

Experiment with what you observe. Does your partner's aura seem different when they're joyful, calm, frustrated, or deep in thought? Notice what changes and what remains consistent. The goal isn't to force an experience but to become a more attentive observer.

Practice Without Pressure

Some people seem naturally gifted at noticing subtle energy, while others develop the ability gradually over time. Neither path is better.

As your awareness grows, you may also become more sensitive to the energy centers many spiritual traditions refer to as chakras. Whether you interpret these experiences spiritually, psychologically, or simply as heightened observation, the important part is remaining curious rather than certain.

The more relaxed your mind becomes, the more likely you are to notice the quiet details that are easy to overlook during a busy day.

Sometimes intuition whispers.

Sometimes it glows.

Stay grounded, stay growing, and keep a little side-eye for the nonsense...
