Aspects In Modern Astrology

Aspects are an essential component of contemporary astrology. As the planets move in their elongated orbits around the Sun, they form a variety of angular relationships with one another, with the Sun (or Earth) at the center. They are known as Aspects. The most common aspects are the conjunction (0 degrees), opposition (180 degrees), trine (120 degrees), square (90 degrees), and so on, which result from dividing the circle by numbers such as 1,2,3,4. When two planets form an aspect with one another, it is said that their energies and natures combine and work in either harmony or discord. For instance, two planets are in opposition when they are exactly on opposite sides of the Sun (earth).

The most popular aspects can be categorized into three primary groups:

Featured aspects: The emphatic aspects are those that highlight or align the energies of two planets. When two planets occupy the same point in the zodiac, they are said to be in conjunction (0 degrees). Their characteristics are fused or combined into one. Two planets that are located on opposite sides of the zodiac. The energies are congruent with one another. Depending on the nature of the planets involved, gravitational forces can attract or repel.

Hard aspects: Square (90 degrees) and semi-square (45 degrees). These represent obstacles, substance, and challenges. They are the basis of our existence. Too many can obstruct or block the flow of life, while too few can cause life to be frail or thin.

Trine (120 degrees) and sextile (180 degrees) are gentle aspects (60 degrees). The gentle aspects bring clarity, vision, and ease into our lives. We can perceive, comprehend, and comprehend what is occurring. Too few soft aspects indicates that we do not know what we are doing or what is happening in our lives, whereas too many soft aspects result in a life that is cold, overly mental, and devoid of substance.

When a feature is precise, it has the greatest impact. However, the impact of the majority of factors can be felt before and after the precise moment. The area within which an effect operates is known as its "sphere of influence" or simply its "sphere." One or two degrees of arc on either side of the exact aspect is considered a close or tight orb, whereas 10 degrees is considered loose.

Also worthy of consideration when analyzing aspects are the involved planets. Sun and Moon aspects are the most significant, followed by those involving Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. If the birth time in your natal chart is accurate, then aspects to the chart angles (ascendant and midheaven) are also significant. The specific combination can have an effect. Aspects between planets such as Saturn and Mars have a greater explosive potential than aspects between Venus and Jupiter.
