3 Easy Steps to Making Your Own Meditation Room

Meditation rooms are typically secluded nooks in a person's home where they can go to relax, reflect, and meditate. Having a private meditation space does not, however, have to be limited to yoga practitioners. You, too, can have your very own meditation room that you can use to get away from the hectic and stressful daily life that the majority of us lead. Your meditation space can be a private sanctuary where you can breathe freely and collect your thoughts. Here are three straightforward steps for creating your own sacred space.

1) Choose a Location for Your Meditation Room:

Quietness and seclusion are the most important characteristics of a meditation room. Regardless of the size of your home, it is possible to have a meditation room where you can enjoy a moment of tranquility. Find a somewhat out-of-the-way location in your home to place it. You may locate your meditation space in your bedroom if you so choose. In fact, any area that can be made private will suffice. If your meditation room is not a separate room, all you need to do is partition it creatively so you are not disturbed when you are in your nook.

2) Equip the Meditation Room with:

A meditation room requires little in the way of furnishings. The most important piece of furniture is a wide, comfortable chair in which you can curl your legs. Even so, a chair is not absolutely necessary. If space is limited, a cushion can serve as a substitute. A bluetooth speaker or other music-playing device may be required. It is very beneficial to meditate while listening to soft instrumental music, or to record natural sounds such as the chirping of birds, the crashing of waves, or the sound of rain.

How well you can focus and concentrate on clearing your mind here may depend on the lighting in your meditation room. In your meditation room, you should install lighting that is soft and subtle. When lighting your meditation room, steer clear of fluorescent bulbs.

There is no requirement to decorate the walls. Neutral colors work best for painting the walls. You do not require anything that could interfere with your meditation. To set and enhance the mood, you can install shelves on which to place scented candles, a vase of flowers, or perhaps crystals. A potted plant can also help set the tone. These are the only decorations that can be considered when designing a meditation room.

3) Maintain the Meditation Room:

Ideally, your meditation room is the only place in your home, if not the entire world, where you can escape to unwind and clear your mind of any concerns. The only thing that will defeat this purpose is if your meditation room is cluttered. Regardless of how hectic your daily schedule may be, you should always make time to keep your meditation space clean and devoid of clutter. Cleaning your meditation space could be considered a form of meditation. After all, you have a meditation room to maintain a clear and unburdened mind.
