Two Easy Strategies to Improve Your Growth

Occasionally, I feel less than stellar. I don't know about you. On those days, I tend to be low, grouchy, fed-up, and restless, which makes me probably not the best company. However, I've accepted, those kinds of days are unavoidable as part of being human; simply put, they are not optional. There will inevitably be bad days, and that's alright. In this blog we will discuss Two Easy Strategies to Improve Your Growth.

What transpires, though, when I've experienced a series of bad days that last for weeks, months, or even years? I acknowledge that I don't want things to be that way but that I've been in a rut, felt stuck, tired, or bored too often but don't know how to change. That's the issue; it's difficult to find the inspiration or materials you need to make that leap when you're stuck because you lack the drive or desire to improve things.

Here are two enjoyable and simple strategies you can use right away to break that helped me break out of that "being stuck" situation and start working toward a better future for myself.

1. Change your behavior

The problem arises when things run too smoothly and we become blind to any ideas or choices that reside outside of our every day routine. Life tends to run smoothly when we create systems and routines for things. Everything we do every day becomes the norm, happening automatically, and it takes over as our entire universe.

Start by making one or two small adjustments to your daily schedule, whether they are related to your morning time, music choices, workout routine (or in my case, in the beginning, the lack of workout routine), commute to work, food routines, etc. Make a few straightforward decisions that will benefit you rather than worrying about the adjustments themselves or whether they are right or wrong.

You can break free from the things that make you feel confined by doing something different or altering certain aspects of your routine. You'll be in a position to make different decisions, see things differently, and achieve a different outcome if you break out of your pattern.

I started out with journaling, and I didn't write a full journal entry either. I started writing down the weather outside. First just if it was the time and current temp. Then I started putting in the high and low. Then I started writing down how the weather made me feel. Eventually I was writing in my journal daily as a habit. Now my blog has become somewhat of a journal for me.

Sharing my thoughts on my keyboard is such a joy for me.

2. Exercise your intuition

Even if you are unaware of it, intuition is a strong friend that we all possess. According to google, intuition is:

in·tu·i·tion /ˌinto͞oˈiSH(ə)n,ˌintəˈwiSH(ə)n/

noun noun: intuition

  1. the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. "we shall allow our intuition to guide us"

  2. a thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning. plural noun: intuitions "your insights and intuitions as a native speaker are positively sought" Synonyms: instinct, intuitiveness, sixth sense, divination, clairvoyance, second sight, ESP (extrasensory perception)

Origin late Middle English (denoting spiritual insight or immediate spiritual communication): from late Latin intuitio(n- ), from Latin intueri ‘consider’

Your intuition is one of the best companions you'll ever have, and developing your ability to trust it can lead to some truly amazing outcomes. While developing your intuition is similar to building a muscle, it can be more difficult to find than a bicep or quadricep, which tend to remain in one spot. Here are some short suggestions for using it and having faith in it:

• Work on keeping an experimental, judgment-free, fun, and open-minded mindset. The best environment to use your instincts is here.

• Get in the habit of speculating wildly in daily situations. Guess the name of the salesperson, the appearance of a new individual or location, or the identity of the caller. You are simply exercising that muscle, so don't stress if you make a mistake.

• Incorporate a few easy observation exercises into your everyday activities. Practice observing other people's non-verbal cues whether you're at a restaurant, on a train, in a bar, or out buying. Keep a watch out for changes in posture, eye movement, vocal tone or tempo, etc. Try to deduce their emotions or the topic of their conversation.

The greatest part of building your "muscle" of intuition, is that it can help you grow a deeper connection to yourself.
